Thea Boyd, from the Musicians of Orchestra London, talks about what they’ve learned since their orchestra suspended operations in December 2014 and what comes next for professional orchestral music in London, Ontario.
Thea Boyd has been a violist with the former Orchestra London Canada since 1988. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland and studied at the University of Glasgow, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the University of Western Ontario. Since Orchestra London Canada declared insolvency in December 2014, she has been chair of the #WePlayOn Musicians’ communications committee, managing PR, social media and media relations. To increase the musicians’ profile in the community, she has also been busy arranging pop-up concerts in unlikely places, such as the baggage carousel at London International Airport.
