Earlier this week, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for this year’s 40th Anniversary Juno Awards, to be presented in Toronto March 27. Once again, many of our members and friends were recognized. Here’s the round-up.
Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble
- Janina Fialkowska and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, led by Bramwell Tovey: Chopin Piano Concertos (ATMA*Naxos)
- Les Violons du Roy, led by Bernard Labadie: Bonbons (ATMA*Naxos)
Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral Performance
- Karina Gauvin (with Les Violons du Roy, led by Jean-Marie Zeitouni): Britten- Les Illuminations (ATMA*Naxos)
Classical Composition of the Year
- Nominations included the Centrediscs/CMC recording of Three Concerti by Larysa Kuzmenko.
