The Francis Winspear Centre for Music is recognized as one of North America’s finest acoustic concert facilities and is home to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. The Winspear’s vision is to create opportunities for every person to have music in their life, no matter their age or background or skill level. Through the Tommy Banks Institute for Musical Creativity, we offer programs to learn about and play music, minimizing barriers for people to access musical arts experiences.
The Musical Creativity Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, supporting, and delivering educational and outreach programs for participants of varying ages and skill levels, from young children to elementary-aged students to older adults, with a focus on building interpretive adult programs for musical discovery, health and wellbeing, corporate training, and adult learning. This role also supports early learning programs, school field trips, educational tours, day camps and summer camps, and family-fun event activations. You are accountable for program-related administration and communications, including coordinating program delivery and liaising with teachers or delivering the program yourself. Additionally, you are responsible for developing programs appealing to Edmonton’s diverse communities and contributing to the strategic growth of the Tommy Banks Institute and the Winspear | ESO. As an ambassador for musical experiences, you advocate for the benefits of music participation and communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders.
You will thrive in this role if you enjoy sharing your love of music and are passionate about the value arts bring into the lives of individuals. You are energized by helping people, young and old, experiment with music and learn something new. This role oversees many concurrent programs, so your diligent attention to detail and ability to plan ahead and manage projects are essential. You are a clear communicator in person and in writing, demonstrate initiative and drive, and possess an inextinguishable creative spark.
Your qualifications include a post-secondary degree and related experience with education, programming and project management, and community engagement. To be effective in this position, you read music and play an instrument. This role is ideal for someone who pursues goals with vigour, works independently but is strongly inclined to be communicative and team-oriented, and interacts respectfully and confidently with others.
If you enjoy helping people discover the musician within, submit your application to begin your career with one of Edmonton’s finest arts organizations. This is a flexible working environment and evening and weekend work is occasionally required.
