Orchestras Canada/Orchestres Canada (OC), the national membership association for Canadian orchestras, seeks a Treasurer to serve as an officer of the Board of Directors. This is a mid-term vacancy, which can be extended at the next Annual General Meeting in September 2017.
In this key volunteer role, the Treasurer works closely with OC staff (Executive Director and book-keeper), the Board, the Audit committee, and external auditor. The time requirement is no more than 5 hours per month, plus attendance at quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors (2 via teleconference or web meeting; 2 in-person meetings in different Canadian cities, typically in the late spring and fall of each year). Travel to the in-person meetings is required, and is reimbursed based on a board-approved policy.
Orchestras Canada is a not-for-profit organization and a registered charity with annual revenues of approximately $400,000. OC’s most recent audited financial statement, annual report, bylaws, and governance policy are posted on our website, here: http://orchestrascanada.org/about/corporate-documents/
Do you know someone who would be ideal for the role? Please share the vacancy notice with them! You can find more details about the role below.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by members of the governance committee, and the successful candidate will then be approved by the OC board at its next meeting. We look forward to hearing from you.
