The Toronto Symphony Orchestra has announced details of a free summer concert at its home venue, Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall. The event takes place July 7 at 12:30, and will be jointly led by music director Peter Oundjian and RBC Resident Conductor Earl Lee. It’s positioned as a thank you to the people of Toronto for a successful 14/15 season, and tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
The National Youth Orchestra of Canada has announced its 2015 summer tour schedule, eight concerts in major Canadian centres between Vancouver BC and Ottawa ON from July 22 to August 10, all led by Maestro Michael Francis. Tour repertoire includes major works by Richard Strauss, Gustav Holst, and Sergei Rachmaninoff, and the program also includes new works by Canadians Emilie Lebel and Alfredo Santa Ana.
