Last Thursday, November 6, Orchestras Canada held our first-ever virtual Annual General Meeting—and despite some initial trepidation about the technology, it was a success. With OC Chair Trudy Schroeder in full command of the meeting, members and guests were ably guided through an agenda that included positive reports on governance, operations, and finances, approval to request a transition to federal incorporation, and the adoption of a new set of bylaws that conform to the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act.
The motions brought forward at the meeting met with the approval of participants, and Orchestras Canada will now pursue the change of jurisdiction, while putting a new, modern set of bylaws into operation.
Financial statements are available here. Other materials (including the new bylaws and the PowerPoint version of the Annual Report) will be posted shortly – watch this space.
Our sincere thanks to all the people who joined us!
