Markham’s Kindred Spirits Orchestra has announced its 2013-14 season, under the leadership of founding music director Kristian Alexander. Featured soloists include Anton Kuerti and Jamie Parker (piano), soprano Jennifer Taverner and violinist Nicole Li, and repertoire highlights include masterworks by Beethoven, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Brahms, and others.
The Orchestre symphonique de Laval recently launched its 2013-14 season: ten concerts divided into three distinct series that fully display the capacities of the orchestra (led by music director Alain Trudel) and the talents of a rising generation of Quebec musicians and composers, including cellist Stéphane Tétreault, composer Nicolas Gilbert, and violinist Alexandre Da Costa. The season includes full orchestral concerts, a chamber series, and a family series.
The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2013-14 season, assembled with care by Music Director Alexander Mickelthwate. It’s a big one, encompassing six series, assorted festivals, 36 different programs, 58 concert dates-and the WSO’s first performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall since 1979. The program includes return visits from such guest artists as Andre Laplante, James Ehnes, Augustin Hadelich, Natalie MacMaster and American Idol finalist LaKisha Jones, and some notable WSO debuts: country singing sensation Lindi Ortega, George “Sulu” Takei and James Bond, to name a few.
