Fabien Gabel, the new music director of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec announced his first season, covering six different series, the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the OSQ’s resident chorus, and an array of European, North American, and Quebecois soloists and conductors. Highlights include Emanuel Ax’s first performances with the OSQ in 15 years, the Quebec debut of German composer Friedrich Gernsheim’s Symphony No. 2, OSQ concertmaster Darren Lowe’s performance of Korngold’s Violin Concerto, a program with Polaris Prize-winner Patrick Watson, and a chamber orchestra series presented in collaboration with Palais Montcalm. Education, families, and community engagement are celebrated through the orchestra’s ongoing relationship with associate artist Alain Lefèvre, and assistant conductor Andrei Feher.
