On Saturday, March 3, the Counterpoint Community Orchestra and the Dickens Fellowship Toronto Branch are partnering to present a program entitled Dickens with a Twist: a Tribute to Charles Dickens, Novelist, Social Reformer, Philanthropist on the Occasion of the 200th Anniversary of his Birth. The varied program, led by CCO music director Taras Kowalczuk, runs the gamut of orchestral possibilities, ranging from selections from “Oliver!” Concert Orchestra Selections to Beethoven’s Symphony #7, along with readings and other pieces associated with Dickens’s musical preferences, works, or year of birth.
When it was founded in 1984, the Counterpoint Community Orchestra was the first Lesbian/Gay/Gay-Positive orchestra in the world. The group now has a 28-year tradition of orchestral performance in the downtown Toronto community. For more information about CCO, please visit ccorchestra.org.
