Congratulations to Calgary Philharmonic President and CEO (and chair of the board of Orchestras Canada) Ann Lewis-Luppino, who was recognized earlier this week as one of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network. “Ann has made a tremendous impact in Calgary and in the arts community,” says Lori Caltagirone, CPO board member.“When you consider that she has transformed two of Western Canada’s vital arts organizations, the Alberta Ballet and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, into sustainable and respected establishments out of distressed financial conditions, it becomes very clear that she is strategic, influential and powerful. Sinfonia Toronto has announced the appointment of General Manager Hamal Docter. In this role, “Hamal will support the chamber orchestra’s continued development at the local, regional, provincial, national and international level.” Speaking about the announcement, ST Music Director Nurhan Arman noted, “I am delighted to welcome Hamal to Sinfonia Toronto as our new General Manager.
