On June 13, the intrepid folks at Orchestra Toronto will launch their first ever Music in the Air, a free, family-friendly, fun-filled nine hour celebration of music and entertainment in Toronto’s Mel Lastman Square. The musicians of the orchestra will play throughout the day, conducted by their newly appointed music director, maestra Danielle Lisboa. Adding to the fun will be performances on a second stage by their special guests, including The Ron Westray Jazz Ensemble, the Caribbean Dance Ensemble, True North Brass, and St. Michael’s School Drum Line and Drum Circle. The entertainment for children will be highlighted by Orchestra Toronto’s popular Instrument Petting Zoo, a hands-on opportunity for kids — and the adults accompanying them — to become familiar with the instruments used by the orchestra’s musicians.
