We are always looking for ways of better communicating the value of the arts to decision-makers – and to our fellow citizens, too. And we know we’re not alone. The Fine Arts Fund of Cincinnati has recently published a report entitled The Arts Ripple Effect: A Research-Based Strategy to Build Shared Responsibility for the Arts. The work was inspired by the observation that, “unfortunately, the arts are an easy target in the public forum – vulnerable to the charge that art is nice, but not necessary…[so] we determined that we needed more analysis of public views and assumptions about arts and culture to develop the necessary foundation for a conversation that leads to increased shared responsibility and public support.”
