On Sunday, October 18, Belleville and area’s Quinte Symphony will launch its 50th anniversary season – and its 20th under the leadership of music director Gordon Craig. The orchestra, a happy amalgam of area professional musicians, committed volunteers and students was known for many years as the Eastern Ontario Concert Orchestra. While based at Belleville, where it rehearses and performs in Bridge Street Church, it draws players from Brighton to Napanee, north to Madoc and south to Picton. A recent winner of the Quinte Arts Council‘s Arts Recognition Awards, the orchestra was cited for bringing “many hours of spectacular performance to thousands of people throughout the area, including outstanding guest artists and the amazing talents of the orchestra itself. The orchestra has served as an incredible training ground for many musicians, in all orchestra voices. A number have gone on to successful and professional musical careers.” For more information about the Quinte Symphony, please visit here – (check back in a few weeks for the Quinte Symphony’s new website).
