Welcome New Members

In recent weeks, we’ve had a mini-boom in new member orchestras.  We bid a warm welcome to

Ontario Philharmonic
Since its founding in 1957, the Ontario Philharmonic (formerly the Oshawa Durham Symphony Orchestra) has established itself as the leading performing arts institution of Durham Region. The OP is comprised of approximately seventy-five professional musicians, and has been led since 1996 by Marco Parisotto.  You can learn more about them here: www.ontariophil.ca

Kawartha Youth Orchestra
The Kawartha Youth Orchestra, based in Peterborough ON, was founded in 2002 to give young musicians in the Kawartha Region the opportunity to perform in an orchestral ensemble. The KYO is under the direction of music director Michael Newnham. Membership in the orchestra is open to youth from 12 to 24 years of age, and admission is by audition only.  You can learn more about the KYO here:  www.thekyo.org

Orchestre symphonique de L’Estuaire
The Orchestre symphonique de L’Estuaire is based in Rimouski QC, and was founded in 1993.  The orchestra’s mission is to promote symphonic music throughout its region, and to that end, the orchestra (now under the direction of Maestro Luc Chaput) performs not only in Rimouski, but also in cities and towns throughout the region.   In addition, the orchestra enjoys close links with local education institutions and youth orchestras.  You can visit their website here:  www.ose.qc.ca
