The Canada Council for the Arts has advised that its deadlines for the Residencies for Composers and Conductors program have been modified. The January 15 deadline has been eliminated, and all applications for grants to support residency activities taking place during the 2010-2011 season must now be submitted at the September 15, 2009 deadline.
This change has been implemented to increase efficiencies in the distribution of financial and human resources assigned to this increasingly popular program. A single annual deadline “will allow peer assessment committees to consider applications in a truly national competitive and comparative context”.
Council has also noted that its Residencies program will be undergoing further adjustments over the course of the summer. Updated guidelines and application forms should be posted on the Council’s web site by the end of the summer; however, the current version of the form can be used as the basis for a first draft of an application for the September 15 deadline. Prospective applicants with questions about the program should contact Music Officer Daniel Swift.
